Few other cars have caught the attention of drivers and car enthusiasts more than the newly redesigned 2026 Mazda CX-5. Known for more than adequate power and plenty of pep, the Mazda CX-5 SUV is sure to delight in its new form. In this CX-5 refresh overview, we’ll look at what we know so far about the 2026 Mazda CX-5, what you can expect, and the features you’ll enjoy when you start to drive one. 2026 Mazda CX-5 Refresh: Power and Performance
The 2026 CX-5 is set to release with a 2.5L 4-cylinder engine that makes 187 horsepower and 185 pound-feet of torque. It’s also going to come standard with all-wheel drive, a welcome drivetrain for improved, tighter handling. While this wouldn’t be the first pick for rugged terrain or the toughest jobs, it’s more than capable for light to moderate off-roading for those who want to escape Bossier City and be out in nature.
To keep up with the growing electric vehicle market, the Mazda CX-5 will also be getting a hybrid variant for 2027. While there are no CX-5 hybrid specs to speak of yet, we can assume that the horsepower will increase thanks to the addition of at least one electric motor alongside the standard fuel-injected powertrain.
2026 Mazda CX-5 Refresh: Exterior
Mazda cites “wearable gear” as the design inspiration for the 2026 CX-5, presenting a “functional yet stylish” appeal. Mazda’s Wing grille sits in the middle of a wider front end, accented by angular headlamps. Angular taillights are also included in the Mazda CX-5 redesign, and a blazing “MAZDA” lettering takes the place of the traditional Mazda logo. Overall, it looks like a CX-5, but bolder.
2026 Mazda CX-5 Refresh: Interior Features
Mazda says the new CX-5 interior will opt for a “calm, functional” design that offers plenty of space and reduces clutter. They’ve widened the door openings for easier entry and exit from the vehicle, adding to the spacious feel. The doors aren’t the only updates either; the CX-5 refresh features increased leg, knee, and head room for rear passengers. The 2026 Mazda CX-5 has also grown a bit from its predecessors, and Mazda boasts that the cargo space has been increased. Also, be on the lookout for ambient lighting to increase luxury appeal.
2026 Mazda CX-5 Refresh: Tech
In order to match its increased size, the 2025 CX-5 will also feature a much larger infotainment touchscreen system, clocking in at a whopping 15.6”. Google Voice Assistant, Google Maps, and other connectivity features will be at your fingertips, and the new infotainment system will enable you to download apps from the Google Play Store. While there is no mention of Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™, we’d be surprised if there wasn’t at least a wired connection available.
2026 Mazda CX-5 Refresh: Safety
While there currently aren’t any details regarding safety features for the remodeled CX-5, we can look to the current 2025 Mazda CX-5 to extrapolate. The 2025 CX-5 received a 5-star rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), so we’d expect a lot of the same safety measures and driver assistance features to carry over. Standard safety features for the 2025 model we expect to see in the 2026 CX-5 include:

- Advanced cruise control
