The CX-50 comes in one of two powertrain configurations: 

  • SKYACTIV®-G 2.5 DOHC 4-cylinder (Up to 187 hp & 185 lb.-ft. of torque) 
  • SKYACTIV®-G 2.5 with Twin-scroll Turbo (Up to 256 hp and 320 lb.-ft. of torque) 

Regardless of which engine you choose, all models come standard with the Mazda i-ACTIV all-wheel drive for an impressively responsive and stable ride in a variety of road conditions. All models also come standard with Mazda Intelligent Drive Select (Mi-Drive) with Sport and Off-Road modes. Turbo models also get a Towing mode, which allows the CX-50 to trailer up to 3,500 pounds. 

The engine also has an effect on the CX-50’s fuel economy. With the standard engine, it’s rated for 25 MPG city and 31 MPG highway, while Turbo models are rated for 23 MPG city and 29 MPG highway
